Faculty Positions in Molecular Cell Biology
The College of Science at Virginia Tech, in support of the University’s strategic plan, is expanding its research presence in Drug Development, Developmental Science, and Systems Biology through interdisciplinary faculty hires across departments (for further information, visit www.science.vt.edu under faculty openings). As part of this initiative, the Department of Biological Sciences anticipates two tenure track positions in Molecular Cell Biology to start in the Fall of 2013 at our Blacksburg, VA campus. Appointment at the assistant professor level is anticipated.
We seek molecular cell biologists whose research interests focus on cell cycle regulation and use a combination of experimental approaches, possibly including model organisms and animal tissue culture systems. Potential areas of interest include cell cycle progression/checkpoints, cell division, cytoskeleton organization, and cell motility. Job requirements include a Ph.D. in appropriate discipline (e.g., Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field) and postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a productive, internationally-recognized research program supported by extramural funding, and to provide effective instruction and advising to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. Other responsibilities include continuing development of professional capabilities and scholarly activities, including travel to professional conferences; curriculum development; participation in department, college, and university governance; and professional service.
