In recognition of the excellence of the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech and out of a desire to ensure the Department can meet the high goals it has set its sights upon, Department Chair Robert H. Jones and member and former Chair of the Biology Advisory Boar, Deborah Ayers Kolle, have generously donated funds to establish a Friends of Biology Excellence Fund.

We invite you to join in support of this fund so that it may reach endowment level ($25,000) and enable the funds to go to work for the department as soon as possible. This fund will be a crucial source of unrestricted dollars that may be used to meet critical needs of the Department of Biological Sciences and ensure that it can always adapt quickly to the changing needs, complex challenges, and emerging opportunities along the way.

From winning the Exemplary Advising Award for departments, to being home to the 2004 Virginia Scientist of the Year, to providing stellar research opportunities to graduates and undergraduates, to conducting research with far-reaching impact, the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech is focused on achieving the goals that will make it one of this nation’s top departments.

Biological Sciences would not be where it is today without the support and involvement of faculty, alumni and friends. We hope that you will make a contribution to the Friends of Biology Excellence Fund to provide a source of critical funding for this stellar department. Thank you so much!
